What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology (AT) uses devices and services to reduce barriers and enhance independence for individuals with disabilities. These aids and adaptations allow individuals with disabilities to function independently in vocational and educational pursuits.
An Assistive Technology device is any item or piece of equipment that is used to increase or maintain the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
Adaptive Hardware The Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio Assisitive Technology Service provides assessment, training and technical support for those disabled individuals that are in or entering employment, educational activities, or other vocational training areas. This includes computer access evaluations, recommendation of appropriate equipment including necessary hardware and software adaptations, setting up equipment, and training.
