Goodwill's Youth Program Benefits From LPGA Tournament Ticket Sales

Here’s a way to watch the top women golfers in the world and help Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio all at the same time.

This year Goodwill has teamed up with the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic (JFOCC) as part of the Charity Ticket Program presented by Owens Illinois. Tournament dates are June 28 – July 4 at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Sylvania, Ohio.

By purchasing your tournament ticket through the Charity Ticket Program you can designate 100 percent of the proceeds to Goodwill. The money raised will be used to provide work experience programming for youth from the Autism Model School.

There are two ticket options for this program:
  • Weekly Clubhouse Ticket - $100
Good for the entire week – allows access to the grounds and entry to the clubhouse where food and beverage is available to purchase.
  • Weekly Grounds Ticket - $50
Good for the entire week – allows access to the grounds only. Food and beverage can be purchased at concession stands located throughout the golf course.

You can purchase your tickets through either the tournament website or by getting a copy of the ticket order form from Goodwill’s website.

If you chose to use the tournament website:

  • Go to www.jamiefarrowenscorning.com
  • Click on Tickets at the top left of the screen.
  • Click on the Charity Ticket page and pick which ticket option you would like – weekly clubhouse or weekly grounds.
  • The ticket order form will prompt you through the order.
When you get to Charity Choice you can chose Goodwill from the drop down screen.

Your tickets will be mailed out four weeks prior to the tournament.

Which ever way you choose, Goodwill will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the ticket. It’s easy, the tournament is loads of fun, and, you’ll be helping Goodwill provide valuable skills to youth with autism.

This Season, Give A Gift That Will Strengthen Your Community

The stories of help and renewed hope are many and miraculous.

Each year Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio has success in training and placing hundreds of individuals with barriers to employment. We’ve helped people find meaningful work which, in turn, has enabled them to become more self-sufficient and give back to our local economy.

Even during these tough economic times, Goodwill’s stories of help and renewed hope are plentiful.
  • The visually impaired high school student we helped find work to pay for college.
  • The single mother with a hearing loss, we coached back into the workforce after a five-year layoff.
  • The injured electrician who landed a new job after completing our training course in job-seeking skills.

Thanks to the support of individuals throughout Northwest Ohio, these people and many others in need were helped by Goodwill Industries – helped to build or re-build their lives.

This holiday season, reflect on the miracles in your life and the people who have helped you. Then, consider giving a gift that will help the people we serve build their future.

Bat Bucks Raises Record Dollars for Goodwill’s Mission

This year’s Bat Bucks campaign was a huge success, raising $13,174, by far the largest total in the program’s six-year history.

Each year shoppers and donors in Goodwill’s eleven stores are asked by store personnel if they would like to buy a bat for $1.00. The bats are then displayed in the stores to show the shopper’s support of Goodwill’s programs. Funds raised through the sale of the bats help support Goodwill’s mission of providing vocational training and placement for individuals with barriers to employment. The program runs each year from October 1 – October 31.

This year, the program was greatly expanded as Plante Moran, The Neighbors Restaurant and KeyBank in Northwest Ohio joined Goodwill in the sale of bats. In addition, KeyBank provided a $2,500 match of funds raised through Bat Bucks sales at their locations!

The total bats sold this year were $10,554! Of these, 2,940 were sold by KeyBank and 7,358 through Goodwill. With the addition of bats sold at the other two locations and KeyBank’s match, the Bat Bucks campaign raised $13,174 for Goodwill’s job training and placement programs.

Goodwill thanks all of the many employees at KeyBank, Goodwill, The Neighbors and Plante Moran who worked hard to make this year’s Bat Bucks such a success. And thanks to everyone who purchased bats showing their support for Goodwill’s programs.

Bryan Goodwill Reopens in New, Larger Location

At 8:45 a.m., Monday, November 9, the doors finally opened at Goodwill’s much anticipated new location in Bryan, Ohio; brining to an end 10 months that saw a very limited Goodwill presence in the Fountain City.

In the first hour of business alone, hundreds of people streamed through the doors to get a glimpse of the store and take advantage of all the bargains to be had. At 11:00 a.m., member of Goodwill’s board of directors along with Bryan Mayor, Doug Johnson, and the Chamber of Commerce, officially celebrated the grand open with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Located at 1210 S. Main Street, the new store occupies more than 16,700 square feet of the former Kmart site.

The new location has 11,500 square foot of sales floor, a 47 percent increase over the former store on W. High Street, as well as much easier access from the road, more parking and a well marked donor area.

New store features include:

  • A dramatically larger selection of goods.
Wider aisles for shopping convenience and comfort.
  • A training room where Goodwill’s programs can be offered to the Bryan community.
  • A new and brighter look, offering a greater shopping experience for our customers.

It is important to note that, even with all of the improvements, Goodwill’s pricing has not changed; still offering the same low price, same high quality.

Goodwill is extremely happy and proud to remain a part of Bryan and the surrounding communities.

Since 1933, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio has provided employment and job training to individuals with disabilities and/or work-related disadvantages. As unemployment increases, so does the need for Goodwill’s services. Strong families and communities are a result of individuals who have gained economic independence and become a contributing member of the community.

KeyBank and Goodwill Join Forces in Bat Bucks Fundraiser

On October 1, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio kicks-off the fourth annual Bat Bucks campaign but this year with a huge addition, KeyBank will be joining Goodwill in the program.

In past years, shoppers and donors in Goodwill’s eleven stores have been asked by store personnel if they would like to buy a card bat on which to write their name for $1.00. The bats are then displayed in the stores to show the shopper’s support of Goodwill’s programs. However, this year all 43 KeyBank locations in Northwest Ohio and South East Michigan will be selling the bats as well. In addition, KeyBank will provide up to a $2,500 match of funds raised through Bat Bucks sales at their locations!

One of KeyBank’s mission priorities is to help increase economic self-sufficiency through programs that provide training and placement for people. Bat Bucks helps put this into action through Goodwill’s mission of providing vocational training and placement for individuals with barriers to employment.

Each year, through the Bat Bucks program, Goodwill shoppers contribute thousands of dollars to Goodwill’s mission. "The program provides a quick and easy way for people to help make a real difference in the lives of many Northwest Ohioans," said Goodwill’s President and CEO, Bob Huber. “This year, with KeyBank’s help, we can really expand the amount of funds raised towards this mission.”

Bat Bucks runs from October 1 - October 31 and you can purchase a bat at any KeyBank or Goodwill location. The Neighbor’s restaurant in Waterville, Ohio is also selling the bats for Goodwill this year.

New Goodwill Boutique a First in Northwest Ohio
On Wednesday, August 5, members of Greater Findlay, Inc. helped Goodwill staff and board members celebrate the grand opening of Goodwill’s new South End Boutique.

The boutique, located at 2435 S. Main St. in the Servus Center at Findlay South, features 2,500 square feet of “high-end” designer clothing, accessories, collectibles and antiques. Also featured is a wide selection of jewelry by Findlay designer Karen Herold of Bead Happy.

Goodwill Boutique shoppers will be able to find items from famous label designers such as Prada, Coach, Cucci, Dooney & Bourke, Versace, Burberry, Kate Spade, and many more.

According to Amy Wachob, Goodwill’s vice president of retail operations, “The new South End Boutique gives people a chance to buy very high-end designer apparel and accessories for a fraction of its original cost.” Unlike Goodwill’s standard retail stores, clothing prices at the Boutique range from $10 to several hundred, depending on the item.

Goodwill is very fortunate to receive such valuable donations throughout our community and region. We are offering the South End Boutique as a means to bring the full value of these items that the donors intended for our mission of providing training and jobs for people with barriers to employment.”

Hours of operation for the South End Boutique are Monday, 10 – 5:00 p.m., closed Tuesday, Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, 10:00 – 5:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., closed Sunday.
