The entire Workforce Development Department provided 1,001 services in 2010, including support services to consumers who were receiving the benefits of our programs throughout all our other departments.

Vocational Evaluations

Vocational evaluation provided 147 evaluations and services to consumers in 2010. These services help determine the job readiness and career paths for individuals

Assistive Technology

This department designed and/or altered workspace equipment and provided 277 services to consumers in 2010, removing what some consider physical barriers in the workplace.

Community Employment Services - Job Placement

The Community Employment Services program provided 381 services to our consumers in 2010.  Of this number, 32 were youth involved in our Summer Youth initiative, the largest group we have ever had. Seventeen individuals were placed in jobs throughout Greater Toledo.

Janitorial Contracts

Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio's contracts department began in the 1960's and has recently focused exclusively on janitorial work. One of our mission based training areas is custodial, thus we seek to employ some of our more than 50 workers from within.

Janitorial & Housekeeping Training

The training departments served a combined 42 individuals during 2010. Many have gone on to work for our janitorial contracts department, while others have obtained employment as janitors in nursing homes, hotels, office buildings, churches, the Veterans Administration or for cleaning companies. Janitorial/housekeeping skills continue to be in the top 25 list of in demand occupations.

Computer Skills and GED Preparation Learning Lab
(Computer and Life Skills training brought to you by Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina)

Our Computer and Life Skills learning lab makes it easy to learn about computers as well as basic skills such as typing and math. All tutorials are done on the computer at your own pace. Classes consist of online participation in a real-time class with other students.

First aid/adult CPR training for lay responders for agencies, businesses and individuals.

Our First Aid and Adult CPR training program certified 28 individuals
in 2010. These people then served eight counties in 14 locations
around northwest Ohio.
