Carl’s Journey to Purpose
Carl came to Goodwill’s Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) Bridge Support Training Program seeking guidance to achieve his career goals. With our team’s help, he enrolled in required classes, explored certification pathways, and prepared for the next steps in his professional journey. Today, Carl is thriving as a Peer Support Specialist at Blanchard Valley Health System, where he empowers individuals in recovery by helping them identify strengths, build personalized plans, and connect with vital resources.
Carl calls this work his true calling and is deeply grateful for the support he received through Goodwill. His journey doesn’t stop here—he has an upcoming interview with Focus’s Peer Advisory Board and plans to enroll at Owens Community College to pursue credentials as a Chemical Dependency Counseling Aide. Carl’s story is a powerful reminder of what determination and community support can achieve.
